Although its taken over 25 years to identify, locate and soon-to-salvage the RMS Republic's treasure - the most difficult part of the salvage was the specific identification of the cargo. Unlike other famous shipwrecks, such as Mel Fisher's Atocha, or Tommy Thompson's Central America (the Central America as well as Titanic were on my 1981 list of shipwrecks to discover!), with documented cargos or of significant historical value, no known recent salvage attempt has been made on the Republic (prior to the development of my Third Theory) because of the concealment and resulting uncertainty of her gold cargo. "Does her gold cargo really exist?" Now that the Republic's salvage is culminating, I have other treasure shipwrecks that are also well researched, and I'm always interested in your thoughts. If you have questions on other treasure shipwrecks, feel free to post them here. |
