Information on Crewmembers

Occasionally I receive request for further information on particular Republic crew members. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a complete crew list for the Republic's last voyage and have had to reconstruct a crew list from other sources.

If you'd like to track down a crew member relative, a good place to start would be here.

I am in contact with a man who is the grandson of Peter Caton, who survived the sinking of the Republic, who was subsequently lost on H.M.S. Laurentic, in January, 1917. I am currently researching the sinking of the Laurentic, and have also identified former Republic crew ( and boigraphical detail's ) during the course of my research. I am currently on a tour of duty in Iraq. Hope to hear from you soon.

I am in contact with a man who is the grandson of Peter Caton, who served on and survived the sinking of the Republic, but later lost his life in the sinking of the Laurentic, in January, 1917 ( I am currently researching a book on the sinking of the Laurentic ). Peter Caton's grandson has allowed me to copy a photograph of his grandfather, and other documents relating to him, and has also shown me his C.Q.D. Medal.

I also have information on one or two more ex-Republic crewmen who were lost on the Laurentic.
